The place where healthy eating meets real-life living.
If you love cooking + eating REAL FOOD…and love chatting about ways to live your #bestlife, then you’ll feel right at home here.
Since you’re here right now, I can tell we have at least one big thing in common…
Maybe you’re still pretty new to it all or maybe you’re already a life-long health nut. No matter where you’re at in your journey – I am so flippin happy that it’s brought you here today!
F-Y-F is where I share all my honest food + health + nutrition knowledge.
Every week I hop on here to connect with you and share:
and healthy living inspo
Why? Because we’re all just out here trying to become our absolute BEST selves. Eating well, staying active, and learning about what is good for our minds & bodies. We are in it to win it. And we are in it for the LONG-HAUL.
But sometimes, it can be a struggle doing it all on your own. Am I right?
This is where FYF comes in, to support you on your own journey by sharing what I’ve learned on mine. Offering as much free info + recipes + encouragement as I possibly can.
ABOUT THE BLOG
I started the blog in 2015 to share recipes with my family and friends. (Okay, and selfishly so my stack of scribbled down recipes would have a more organized place to live). But over the years, it’s become so much more than a simple recipe-sharing site.
It’s now an all-encompassing food + health + wellness blog.
So…why not just feature yummy recipes and leave it at that?
Because the what behind “what should I eat?” is part of a much bigger picture. The truth is that eating healthy food is only ONE piece of the puzzle. There is so much more to it when it comes to actually living a healthy life.
Leaving the rest out of it (like the why and the how) would be cheating you of the full story. It would be like me telling you about this awesome must-see place (let’s call it, Destination Health + Happiness) and then only giving you half the map you need to get there.
That’s why we choose to share healthy(ish) recipes AND also talk about:
why eating well matters
how to meal prep
ways to make healthy habits stick
which wholesome ingredients to reach for and why
how to choose cleaner beauty & household products
Things you should know – I am not a personal trainer, medical professional, trained chef, or registered dietician. I’m just a real person who is deeply curious and fiercely passionate about living WELL. And who knows first-hand just how difficult it can be to find your way.
I’m a real human being who has made real mistakes and overcome real obstacles in her life. I’ve done it “the wrong way” enough times to have finally found the right way (or at least the right way for me). And that’s how it goes, isn’t it?
There is no shortcut to success or fast-track to happiness. It takes time + experience to feel out different ways of eating, moving, and living that work for you. That’s why I expanded FYF into a place that spoke to that journey we all find ourselves on. I wanted it to become a safe space that supported that exploration for others too.
My personal experience + knowledge is what I’m here to share with you.
Your experiences & knowledge are what I hope you’ll share with me too! So please drop me a comment or email message here on the blog or pop over to say hello on Instagram.
By the way, I’m Lauren!
SO great to meet you. Thanks for being here – for reading & exploring.
I’m the FYF recipe developer + content creator around here. I run this blog with my husband, Billy – he’s the food photographer + devoted taste-tester who handles all the images on the site. Together we are the two-person team behind Free Your Fork.
You’ll almost always find me in the kitchen – chopping, stirring, cooking, eating, learning, mess-making and tinkering on new recipes. Or (just as likely) lurking behind my laptop cranking out a post or two.
I’m a California girl through and through. Born and raised right here in the golden state. I love a good green smoothie just as much as a good old-fashioned donut. And I’m seriously obsessed with dogs. I think their furry faces bring so much joy into the world.
When I’m not in the kitchen or on the blog, you can find me (reluctantly) working up a sweat in the gym or (happily) trekking on some trail somewhere // anywhere with trees, mountains, or rivers.
I’ve been overweight. I’ve been underweight. And every emotion in between. You can read all about that in these personal posts (my Health Journey and our Food Philosophy). It took me a LONG time to make peace with food + my body. Over a decade of stumbling followed by reading, learning, healing, and working for me to find the healthy lifestyle that fits me best. One that was sustainable, attainable, and one that I truly LOVE living. My hope is that by sharing my journey, it might help you go EVEN further on yours.
Before I go, I want to invite you to join the growing FYF community by signing up for my email list.
