The place where healthy eating meets real-life living.
If you love cooking + eating REAL FOOD…and love chatting about ways to live your #bestlife, then you’ll feel right at home here.
Since you’re here right now, I can tell we have at least one big thing in common…you’re health-curious.
And I’m guessing that topics like smoothie recipes, superfoods, green beauty, and DIY face masks are your jam too! Maybe (like me) your favorite days are the kind that start with an almond milk latte + squeezing in a quick sweat-sesh. And end with a fresh homemade meal + (too many) squares of dark chocolate on the couch.
Whether you’re just getting started or you’re already a life-long health nut – I am so stoked that your health journey has brought you here today to our happy little corner of the web.
F-Y-F is where I share all my honest food + health + nutrition knowledge. Every week I hop on here to connect with you and share:
healthy living info
Around here, we celebrate life by eating well, staying active, and figuring out what’s best for our minds & bodies. We like to stay curious and we’re always hungry to learn more. But sometimes, it can be a struggle doing it all on your own. Am I right?
That’s where FYF comes in – to support you on your own journey by sharing what I’ve learned on mine.
ABOUT THE BLOG
I started the blog in 2015 to share healthy recipes with my family and friends. But over the years, it’s become so much more than a recipe-sharing site.
FYF is a food + health + wellness blog.
Because we recognize that food is just ONE piece of the puzzle. By now you know that when it comes to actually living a healthy life, there is so much more to it than just what you eat.
Leaving the rest out of it (like the why and the how) would be cheating you of the full story. I’ve been there before and I know how it feels to want big changes in your life (and how frustrating it feels not knowing how to make them happen).
That’s why we choose to share healthy recipes AND also share:
- why eating well matters
- how to meal prep
- ways to make healthy habits stick
- which ingredients to reach for and why
- how to choose cleaner beauty & household products
I am not a medical professional or trained chef. I’m just a real person who is deeply curious and fiercely passionate about living WELL.
And someone who knows first-hand just how difficult it can be to find your own way.
I’ve been overweight. I’ve been underweight. And every emotion in between. You can read all about that in these personal posts (my Health Journey and our Food Philosophy). It took me a LONG time to make peace with food + my body. Over a decade of stumbling followed by reading, learning, healing, and working to find the healthy lifestyle that fits me best. One that was sustainable, attainable, and one that I truly LOVE living. My sincere hope is that by sharing what I’ve learned on my journey, that it might help you go even further on yours.
By the way, I’m Lauren!
SO great to meet you. Thanks so much for being here.
I’m the FYF recipe developer + content creator around here. I run this blog with my husband, Billy – he’s the food photographer + devoted taste-tester who handles all the images on the site. Together we are the two-person team behind Free Your Fork.
I’m a California girl through and through. Born and raised right here in the golden state. I’m all about living my life with balance – I love a good green smoothie just as much as a good old-fashioned donut. And I value my gym time just as much as my lounge time.
You’ll almost always find me in the kitchen – chopping, stirring, cooking, eating, learning, mess-making and tinkering on new recipes. Or (just as likely) behind my laptop hammering out a blog post or two. When I’m not in the kitchen or on the blog, you can find me happily trekking on some trail somewhere. If you follow me on Instagram then you know just how much I love being anywhere with trees, mountains, or rivers.
Before I go, I want to invite you to join the growing FYF community by signing up for my email list. Our subscribers get access to weekly real-food recipes, easy-to-read articles on wellness and healthy living, and free resources (like printable grocery lists, meal prep planners, grocery cheat sheets, e-books, and more).
Thanks so much again for being here, I really appreciate you dropping by our little corner of the web and hope you’ll stick around to be part of it all!!
